The Black Forest Star Party is an annual dark-sky amateur astronomy observing event hosted by the Central Pennsylvania Observers (CPO). Held every year since 1999, the BFSP generally spans a weekend in the late summer or early fall in Cherry Springs State Park in Potter County, Pennsylvania.
Held at Spruce Knob in West Virginia which is one of the darkest spots east of the Mississippi. It is held at the Mountain Institute in Spruce Knob, WV. This will be a joint venture of NOVAC and the Virginia Outdoor Lighting Task force and all proceeds will be used to fight light pollution. The Mountain Institute provides an outstanding observing location as well as civilized amenities like hot showers, meal service, and internet access.
The annual CalStar California Star Party, hosted by the San Jose Astronomical Association during September or October has been in operation since 2000. It is one of California's premier amateur stargazing events, a definite must-attend event, not to be missed by anyone interested in astronomy. This is a very relaxed, friendly, non-commercial amateur astronomy event.
It is held at the South Shore area (Monterey County Parks) of Lake San Antonio, about a 35-minute drive from Paso Robles through very dry and picturesque ranch country.
The White Sands National Monument will serve as the official
host for the two nights of dark sky observing. Area 19 of the
dunes will serve as the site for the White Sands Star Party.
The Equinox Sky Camp is the largest star party in the UK, with hundreds of amateur astronomers meeting up at Kelling Heath, Norfolk, for a weekend of observing and events. The main day of the event has traditionally been the Saturday, with trade stands, secondhand 'astroboot' stalls and talks, but since 2005 the events have extended into the Sunday with talks and a workshop of particular interest to active observers. These will take place after midday to allow for those who are observing until the small hours!
